Greek Burgers with Garlic Aioli Fries

These burgers are a refreshing Greek-inspired take on a classic dinner favorite, made quick and easy with fresh veggies and prepared tzatziki. Pair with seasoned fries made easily in the air fryer or oven with a garlic aioli dipping sauce. Ingredients for this recipe all came from Aldi.

Ingredients Needed:

For the burgers (serves 4):

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb (I prefer 85/15 beef for burgers)
  • 1/4 cup Greek seasoning
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt + pepper to taste
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4-6 pieces of leaf lettuce
  • 1 ripe tomato, sliced thickly
  • 6-8 slices cucumber
  • 8 oz block feta cheese, sliced
  • 1 cup prepared tzatziki (I used the cucumber dill tzatziki from Aldi)

For the fries:

  • 4 russet potatoes, skin on, cut into fries
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2-3 tbsp Greek seasoning
  • Salt + pepper to taste
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice

Directions:

  1. Using a sharp knife, cut the potatoes into thick fries. Let the fries soak in a bowl of cold water for about 10 minutes. Preheat air fryer or oven for the fries. If using the air fryer, preheat to 400 degrees. If using an oven, preheat to 425.
  2. While the fries are soaking, form the burger patties. Combine ground beef in a bowl with greek seasoning, 2 cloves minced garlic, and salt and pepper. Form 4 patties and set aside on a plate.
  3. Drain the excess water from the fries. Coat fries with vegetable oil and toss. Add to air fryer for 16-18 minutes, shaking halfway through cooking time. Alternately, spread oil coated fries on a baking sheet and bake at 425 for 15-18 minutes, turning fries halfway through. Remove fries from fryer/oven and toss with greek seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  4. Make the aioli for the fries. In a small bowl, whisk together mayo, remaining garlic, and lemon juice. Whisk until smooth and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. In a large skillet, cook burger patties 5-6 minutes on each side over medium heat. Cook to your desired level of doneness. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, top each burger with one slice feta cheese and cover. Your feta will not melt like traditional burger cheeses, but it will be warm and adds a great texture .
  6. Butter brioche buns and toast for 20-30 seconds.
  7. To build the burger, put leaf lettuce and cucumber slices on bottom bun. Spoon tzatziki on lettuce and top with burger patty with feta. Top with tomato and bun lid. Serve fries alongside the burger with garlic aioli on the fries or on the side.
